QR code generator for printing on A4 or US Letter sheets

Paste a list of links or import a file, and the generator lays up to 1,500 codes out on print-ready sheets with captions. Download a PDF, SVG or PNG.

Step 1 · Content

1 link per line, the caption after a space One line = one QR code.
The caption is printed under the code: add it after the link, separated by a space. You do not have to write "https://".example.com
example.com/menu Table 5
When importing CSV or Excel (XLSX), the second column of the file becomes the caption.
Limits: up to 1500 links at once, a caption up to 100 characters.

Step 2 · Look and size
Fine tuning optional

Margins

Frame

Short ticks at the corners of every cell to cut along. Needs a gap between codes of 0.5 cm or more and a sheet margin of 0.25 cm or more.

Color

No fill: the code sits on the layout background, which has to be light. In a PDF this is the color of the paper.

Step 3 · Format

What you can do in QRsetter
  • QR codes made for printing: a PDF layout, vector SVG sheets or a PNG for every code.
  • Any code and background color, or a transparent background. The generator checks the contrast.
  • A logo in the middle of the code: upload a PNG or JPG in step 2.
  • Sizes, margins and the frame are set by hand, in centimeters.
  • Besides links: a QR code with text, a phone, an SMS, an email, Wi-Fi or a contact card, plus tabs for EAN-13 barcodes, DataMatrix and Code128.
  • Up to 1500 lines at once: paste a list or import a TXT, CSV or Excel file.
  • Make labels, signs, receipts, price tags, badges and warehouse tags.
  • Free, no sign-up, no watermark.

How to use it

  1. Paste the list. Pick the tab for your code type: links, plain text, phones, SMS, email, Wi-Fi, contact cards (vCard), EAN-13 barcodes, DataMatrix or Code128. Enter one line per code. For links, phones and email, add a caption after a space, and the generator prints it under the code. For a long list, import a TXT, CSV or Excel (XLSX) file instead of pasting.
  2. Look and size. Pick the sheet format and the code size. Margins, the frame and colors are under "Fine tuning". A logo in the middle of the codes is optional, PNG or JPG. The grid is recalculated for the sheet you picked: A4, A3, A5, A6 or US Letter, portrait or landscape.
  3. Download the file. Click "Download PDF" for print-ready sheets, or switch the output to SVG sheets or a PNG for every code. A PDF always comes as one file. With SVG and PNG you get one file per sheet or per code, and two files or more come packed in a ZIP.

What the generator does

  • Every line of the list becomes its own code, and the generator fills the sheets with them.
  • Set the margins, the size and the placement of the codes. A Letter sheet takes 30 price tags with captions, and an A4 sheet takes 35. The same form also makes one large code for a whole sheet.
  • Add your own text to each QR code, and the generator prints it as a caption under the code: a table number, a product name or an asset number.
  • Generate and download the PDF without an account.
  • PDF and SVG are vector, so the code prints sharp at any size, from a 2 cm (0.8 in) sticker to a whole A3 sheet.

What it is for

Price tags, box labels, tickets, flyers, badges and passes are made here and then printed on an office printer.

The form at the top of the page is set up for an A4 sheet. If your paper is US Letter, switch the format in step 2, then paste the list and click "Download PDF".

Eight pages go into the details: printing QR codes on a sheet, QR codes from Excel, Wi-Fi QR codes, contact card QR codes, vector QR codes in SVG, QR codes as PNG images, DataMatrix codes on sheets and Code128 barcodes.

Two articles to read before the print run: what size to give a QR code for the scanning distance, and why free QR codes stop working while the static codes from this page keep your own link inside.

Frequently asked questions

How many QR codes fit on a sheet?

At a code size of 2 cm, an A4 sheet holds 40 QR codes without captions, in a 5×8 grid. With captions it holds 35. US Letter holds 35 without captions and 30 with them. Change the code size or the margins, and the grid and the preview update right away.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit either.

How do I print QR codes on a printer?

Download the PDF and print it at 100% scale ("Actual size"). Turn off "Fit to page": the sheet already has its own margins. Plain 80 g/m² (20 lb) paper and any office printer will do, laser or inkjet. Print one sheet, scan it with your phone, and only then print the whole run.

Which formats can I download?

The PDF is a finished sheet layout in the format you chose. SVG sheets suit graphic editors. Both formats are vector, so the edges stay sharp at any print size. Two more outputs give a separate SVG or PNG for every QR code. Those files suit documents, slides and marketplace listings, and the file name carries the number and the caption.

How do I make QR codes from a list of links in bulk?

Paste the list into the field, one link per line, or import a TXT, CSV or Excel file. One run makes up to 1,500 QR codes. The generator checks every line and shows an error report with line numbers.

Can I count how many times the codes were scanned?

The generator does not count scans. If your site has Google Analytics or another analytics tool, add a UTM tag to the links, and visits from the codes show up among the traffic sources. In step 1, on the "Links" tab, click "Add UTM or put values into a template" and paste an address with {value} into the "Link template" field. The generator puts each line of the list in place of {value}, so the tag goes into all links at once.

How do I add captions under the QR codes?

Type the caption after the link, with a space between them, for example "https://example.com Table 5", or import a CSV or Excel file with two columns: link and caption. A caption of up to 100 characters is printed under the QR code in the PDF and the SVG sheets. In the per-code SVG and PNG files it goes into the file name. The generator rejects a longer caption and names the line. A caption wider than the code is cut with an ellipsis.

Can I make a QR code for something other than a link?

Besides links, the generator makes QR codes with plain text, phones, SMS, email, Wi-Fi and contact cards. EAN-13 barcodes, DataMatrix and Code128 have tabs of their own. A phone reading such a code offers to dial the number, write the email, join the network or save the contact. Switch the tab above the input field.

Can I change the color of the code and the background?

Set the code color and the background color under "Fine tuning" below step 2. The preview, the PDF and the SVG all use them. The generator checks the pair and rejects it if the code is not darker than the background or the contrast is below 4:1.

Can I put a logo in the middle of the QR code?

Upload a PNG or JPG up to 256 KB in step 2 "Look and size". Every code gets the logo in the middle, on a patch of the background color. The generator switches to the highest error correction level (H) on its own, so the codes stay readable.

Can I print on paper other than A4?

Step 2 has the sheet format: A4, A3, A5, A6 or US Letter. Orientation is there too, portrait or landscape. At a 2 cm code size without captions, A4 holds 40 codes, US Letter holds 35 and A3 holds 96.

What size should a QR code be for printing?

Do not print smaller than 2×2 cm. Above that size, go by distance: make the side of the code about one tenth of the scanning distance, so a code read from 2 m needs a side of about 20 cm. For a sign on a wall, the form has an 8 cm (3.1 in) preset.
